Title: Final Fantasy XV
System: PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC
Year: 2016
This was my first real deep dive into a Final Fantasy game. I was immediately taken in and loved every minute of it…but let’s be honest…I got this because of the flying car.
Visual: Final Fantasy XV boasts stunning visuals, with a vast, beautifully rendered open world that captures a mix of realism and fantasy. Character models are highly detailed, and the dynamic lighting, weather effects, and fluid animations contribute to an immersive experience. The game’s cinematic cutscenes are visually striking, enhancing the epic feel of the story.
Audio: The audio design in Final Fantasy XV is exceptional, with Yoko Shimomura’s soundtrack standing out as one of the game’s highlights. The music ranges from grand orchestral pieces to more intimate melodies, fitting each moment perfectly. Voice acting is strong, particularly in the main cast, adding depth to the characters.
Difficulty: The difficulty in Final Fantasy XV is fairly accessible, with a real-time combat system that is easy to pick up but offers depth for those who want to master it. Some battles, especially against optional bosses, provide a significant challenge, but overall, the game is designed to be enjoyable for a wide range of players.
Replay Value: The game offers good replay value, with numerous side quests, optional dungeons, and post-game content that can extend playtime well beyond the main story. Additionally, DLCs and updates have added new content and gameplay modes, giving players reasons to revisit the game. The open-world design and character progression systems also encourage multiple playthroughs with different strategies.
